On the 141st anniversary of the battle of Fredericksburg, Missouri, a dedication ceremony was held to memorialize six members of the 2nd Colorado Cavalry who were killed in the fight against Confederate guerillas.

Their names had only been known for a little more than a year and only recently had some of their family members been informed of their service to the United States during the Civil War.

The ceremony was opened with cannon fire and the soldiers were honored with a three volley gun salute by re-enactors of various Union regiments.
